Fiona Wade finds the body of a local politician, who is also the director of the fife and drum corps, pinned to the wall with his drum major's mace. Is the motive dirty politics, greed, power or something else? Fiona must unscramble the mystery, while balancing her role as grandmother, wife of a nautically inclined husband, defending the former governor's wife and preparing her holiday dinner. A great weekend read for the light hearted with 18th century historical interests. This is the second book in the Riverwalk Mystery Series celebrating the 300th birthday of New Bern, North Carolina. Local book reviewer, Ken Grubel says that Dodd's books are not only good mysteries, but double as a local guidebook to the town.
