To follow through with the plan, he enlists the help of a motley group of wannabes: a supermarket owner and his partner, a senior bank employee and a South African gold refiner. All goes well at first and, while the plan is in operation, Harmon becomes involved in several other intriguing episodes, not all of which have positive outcomes. But nothing ever goes exactly to plan, and the gold deal faces a serious obstacle when the fraud police become involved.
