This edited volume focuses on economic integration, currency union, and sustainable and inclusive growth in East Africa. It consists of twelve interrelated studies that provide a comprehensive picture of the state and determinants of economic development and cooperation among countries in East Africa, such as Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania. Almas Heshmati is Professor of Economics at J?nk?ping University andSogang University. He held similar positions at the Korea University, SeoulNational University, University of Kurdistan Hawler, RATIO Institute (Sweden)and the MTT Agrifood Research (Finland). He was Research Fellow at the WorldInstitute for Development Economics Research (WIDER), The United NationsUniversity during 2001-2004. From 1998 until 2001, he was an AssociateProfessor of Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. He has a Ph.D.degree from the University of Gothenburg (1994), where he held a SeniorResearcher position until 1998.
