Leaders don't just need to know about leadership -- leaders need to embody the capacity to lead in the midst of ambiguity and complexity. Developed by the Strozzi Institute in Northern California, the concept of embodied leadership is derived from somatic coaching, a unique approach that brings the body forward as an advocate in creating a place for change and transformation. It brings together language, action, feeling and meaning and is based on the idea that the mind and body are inextricably linked: to develop one, a person must cultivate the other.
Embodied Leadershipdeconstructs the current thinking about the body using key discoveries in neuroscience to explore a different way of seeing the body and the way it relates to the mind. There are practical exercises throughout to develop embodied leadership skills and personal development and to demonstrate the uses and benefits of a somatic approach, particularity in the area of emotional intelligence.- Holistic approach to management and leadership development - Ideal for leaders who need to be able to deal with complexity and ambiguity in interpersonal and organizational relations while remaining a force for influence and change - Deals with leadership in a practical, clear and concise way Acknowledgements Introduction
