I grew up in a household with my mom, step-dad, two younger brothers, a step-brother and a step-sister. Outside of my house, I had my biologically father, my step-mother and three younger sisters. In school the majority of my friends had both of their parents at home. I didn't understand why my life and family were different. I became rebellious towards my parents, in an effort to communicate my misunderstanding of my blended family. I hurt everyone around me because I didn't like what I was born into. At the age of 16, I found my voice. My life didn't change because I found my voice but because I learned how to better communicate what I was feeling. Poetry became my voice. In turn, I changed my views towards my life. This book is about my life experiences and beliefs. It reflects the different things that I have gone through expressed through poetry. I hope that this book inspires girls to love themselves and strive for the best. I can only pray that my story will touch at least one person who will spread the word. We can't always change our circumstances, but we can change our views towards whatever we may be going through.
