On September 26, 1856 the first two handcart companies arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. They were weary of body but joyous in spirit as they walked into the valley having begun their journey Liverpool, England on route by clipper ship to the America to join other members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their trek took them by ship, bus, train and finally by handcart to the Great Salt Lake Valley. This book recounts the trials and triumphs of their journey based on journals and other historical documents. This new edition contains the Handcart Logbook along with manifests from the ship, company lists and journal entries. A must for genealogists or those interested in early Mormon history.
