He has been a Researcher at the Political Economy Research Centre in Sheffield, UK, and at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, Germany. He has also been an academic assistant, researcher, lecturer and consultant at the University of Tampere and a project secretary in the Association of the Finnish Local and Regional Authorities in Finland. He acted as the Chairman of the Judging Panel of the HP Euroleader 2006 Awards in Italy.
