Dr. Akhmand Saufi is interested in tourism issues particularly related to community empowerment, community participation, tourism entrepreneurship, and small-scale tourism enterprises. He received his PhD in 2013 from Griffith University, Australia, with a thesis titled Understanding host community's experiences in establishing and developing small tourism enterprises in Lombok, Indonesia . Dr. Saufi published Inhibitors to host community participation in sustainable tourism development in developing countries in the Journal of Sustainable Tourism in 2014. At the same time, he participated as an editor in an International Green Tourism Symposium organised by Mataram University in Lombok.
