Shift [Paperback]

A collection of poems by American poet Marylen Grigas. Her poems cast a wide gaze-sea squirts, the body, planets, graffiti, fate, Clytemnestra, the neighborhood. These are poems to live by, even as they face death-finding grace. Whoever reads this book will understand it to be a gift from a poet of uncommon skill, knowledge, intelligence, wisdom, wit, spiritual courage, humility, and generosity. Grigas's voice is distinctive, evocative, and thoughtful, transmuting the stuff of daily life into the universal questions that occupy all of us, when we connect with what is most meaningful in our lives. And she does it with playful humor, joy in words, life, nature, and the inevitable pain of loss that life and death bring. Marylen Grigas's poems have appeared in many fine journals and magazines including The New Yorker, Alaska Quarterly Review, and Circulo de Poesia.
