When a multitude of international aid organisations arrived in Timor-Leste in 1999, it was hoped the intervention would result in developmental success. This book examines the Timorese experience and provides a broader analysis of how aid-influenced development can work in greater harmony with the people to realise their visions for their nation.Dr Anne Wigglesworth has twenty-five years experience in international development, working in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and Latin America. In 1997 she worked as a Caritas Australia Program Manager for East Timor, visiting regularly until 2000. She now works as a consultant in social development and is an adjunct associate of the Monash Asia Institute.
