This volume offers a critical edition and translation of Jacob ofSerughs <i>Homily on the Apostle Thomas and the Resurrection of OurLord</i> that focuses on John 20:1928. The introduction describes thetwenty-nine manuscripts that preserve the homily, details theconstruction of a stemma, presents case studies of editorial decisionsbased on neo-Lachmannian principles, and explains the systems ofpunctuation, orthography, and diacritical points. It also drawsattention to the reception of the homily by attending to the producersand users of the manuscripts as well as the homilys transmission inexegetical, liturgical, and hagiographical collections. The apparatusand appendices highlight paratextual marginalia, excerpts of the homilyin the Syriac Masora, the incorporation of the homily into aliturgical rite, additions to the homily, and section divisions inmanuscript witnesses.
