Offenbarung, Asthetik und Koranexegese: Zwei Studien zu Sure 18 (al-Kahf) [Paperback]

English summary: In recent years, there has been an increased interest in historically oriented literary research on the Koran. The Western debate is taking place independent of hermeneutically orientated Islamic Koran exegesis, with the result that any form of mutual awareness and appreciation is almost entirely absent. The complete historical and literary analysis of Sura 18 presented in the first part of this volume primarily explores the effect that the text had on its first, not Muslim listeners in a late classical setting. Using modified step-by-step methodology from historical-critical Bible exegesis and by taking into account issues of aesthetic reception, it becomes clear that the Sura is a complex literary entity that reflects a vibrant process of communication. The second part of the volume is devoted to Sayyid Qutb's (1906-1966) literary-aesthetic interpretations of the Qur'an and provides a complete German translation of his commentary of Sura 18 for the first time. This synopsis of two otherwise unrelated approaches makes it possible to jointly assess and compare both the limits and potential of Western and Islamic hermeneutics. Die westlichen Debatten verlaufen dabei unabhangig von der hermeneutisch anders gelagerten islamischen Koranexegese, sodass eine gegenseitige Wahrnehmung und Wurdigung fast ganzlich fehlt.
