Nonetheless, a book which Im sure will be used regularly.A book that explores the contested concepts of participation and empowerment in modern Youth Work practice. It raises important issues about the changing role of youth workers in a culture of managerialism and accopuntability that characterises prevalent forms of Youth Work.Its a valuable account of the starting points that youth work has adopted for some time; it is also a helpful way for students to access some of the key theory that informs youth work practice and policy. Overall, a useful and clearly written text.Some very interesting concepts explained in great detail, i.e.resilience, reflective practice, participation and empowerment- in one book, great!Clearly written with useful examples and models.The book provided clear definitions and assisted the reader to look at the concept of empowerment and the approach of reflective practice in a clear manner.
