This book will give light to the most recent studies on illuminated manuscripts carried out by the research group Medieval texts and images, coordinated by Prof. Adelaide Miranda and integrated, as an independent research line, in the Institute for Medieval Studies of the Nova University (Lisbon). New approaches and methodologies have been explored by the members of this group in order to carry out innovative and interdisciplinary research which meant that the group has become a leader in research on illuminated manuscripts in Portugal and one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. This book gives light to the most recent studies on illuminated manuscripts carried out at the Institute for Medieval Studies of Nova University (Lisbon). She is an art historian currently developing a postdoctoral project on the subject Gestures and body language in beatus manuscripts , funded by the portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. She is co-coordinating at this moment a book entitled Medieval Europe in Motion , which will be published by the Officina di Studi Medievali of the University of Palermo and will come out in 2014. This is a collection of studies that scholars working on illuminated manuscripts from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries should consult for Portugese comparisons... --Kyle Lincoln, Kalamazoo College, The Medieval Review 17.12.01
