Acknowledgements

This book presents a research-based solution-focused applied psychology approach (SoFAP-P) that is efficient and effective in helping clients address challenges, and can be applied to a wide range of psychological domains.

Cauffman and Weggeman propose a way to extend the solution-focused approach into the field of applied psychology. They call their approach a Solution-focused Applied Psychology Protocol (SoFAP-P) by using a scientific innovation called Design Science Research as a methodology to ground their practice. Their conceptualization and presentation of SoFAP-P is true to the assumptions, spirit, and practices of the approachs founders, Steve de Shazer, Insoo Kim Berg, and their colleagues at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A. Practitioners, researchers, and theorists alike will find much to admire and use in this clearly written, lively, and engaging book.
