This collection of wisdoms from the works of Ibn Taymiyyah reflects the range of his penetrative insight and wisdom. It aims to recast his work, which is often mistakenly associated with Islamic fundamentalism, for a new generation of Muslims who are seeking a path through the challenges of the modern age.
With an emphasis upon literary concision each aphorism is pregnant with meaning, which is carefully explored in a commentary.

Ibn Taymiyyah is one of Islam's most pivotal figures. His works, written in the thiteenth century, continue to influence a great deal of scholarship today, and he is widely known as the Shaykh ul-Islam - the religious leader of Islam - a title without qualifications to a people, time or place.
Some of his work favours a return to the 'source' of Islamic belief, that of the Qur'an, sayings of the Prophet, and his close companions, which, many argue, has influenced 'fundamental' Muslim groups. However, this work sets out to squash those simplistic ideas, while at the same bringing his wide and varied views to light to a new generation.
