Sir Peter Strawsonwas a professor at Oxford from 1968 to 1987. He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 1960, became a foreign honorary member of the American Academy of Arts of Sciences in 1971, and was an Honorary Fellow of St John's, University and Magdalen Colleges.
