This book examines the nature and relationship of philosophy, science and ideology as modes of political thought. Through a survey of various important conceptions, the problem of ideology is identified as moral relativism. The inability of various inadequate contemporary accounts of political science and political philosophy to provide a solution to the problem of ideology is established. It is argued that the solution to the problem of ideology is provided only by rational political philosophy, founded on a conception of objective human nature.Preface - The State of Political Theory and the Problem of Ideology - Conceptions of Ideology: the Marxist Tradition - Conceptions of Ideology: the Non-Marxist Tradition - Naturalist Political Science and Political Ideology - Non-Naturalist and Realist Political Science and Political Ideology - A Critique of Value-Free Political Science - Contemporary Confusion of Political Philosophy and Political Ideology - A Critique of Relativism in Political Thought - Demarcating Political Ideology and Political Philosophy - Rational Political Philosophy - IndexDAVID MORRICE
